Royal Vienna Style Hand Painted Cupid & Cephisa Multicolor & Heavy Gold Plate
Beautiful porcelain dinner sized cabinet plate. Hand painted in the Royal Vienna style with a classical / allegorical scene with a man, woman, and cherub in front of trees. The scene is framed by a heavy gold band along the inner rim with raised gold scrollwork and beading. The border of the plate is aqua, crimson red, pink, and ivory with raised gold gilt floral scrollwork designs, gold gilt beading, and scenes with gold gilt birds. Marked on the reverse with a spurious / pseudo blue overglaze beehive above Austria and the name of the scene, Cupid & Cephisa, in black. Probably made around the turn of the century.
Has some loss to the beading and minor wear to the gold, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks.
Measures approximately 9 1/2 inches wide.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
