Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) Grateful Dead 1993 Spring Tour Backstage Pass ( sticker-patch / satin ) issued for the April 5, 1993 ( 4/5/1993 ) Show at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York ( NY ) !!!  And, as the photos nicely show ... this is the Rare & Awesome ! " Mexican Hat Dancing Dancin' Skeletons " Pass !! - GDP issued for the Last / Final night of this 5-Show '93 Spring Tour G.D. stand - at Nassau !!!
Wow, what a Pass-design ! here my fellow Dead Fans ... as "Arrriba !! " - I say.  I mean check this one out - as it's a total & complete Dancing-Skeletons " Mexican Hat Dance " scene !  Quite perfect for any Cinco De Mayo event - Road Trip in the Micro-Bus while crossing the border into Tijuana, and naturally ... The Good Ol' Grateful Dead !! - Rockin' Out Nassau !!!  This Art design is just Killer !  I mean check out the " stripes " in the background - as they almost look like my favorite Mexican Blanket which I own ( have owned forever ) & surely treasure !  A lot of thought went into this fine design - no doubt ... as the image is bright - vivid & eye-catching - with great - or should I say Grate ! attention to detail ... in Bright Orange ! & Blue !!  I mean where's the Tequila !?!!  I'll never understand why the Grateful Dead didn't ever pull off a Mexico Show ? - but, if they would've -- I'd would have definitely found a way to make it there - no doubt.  You know, I'm not sure we can come even close to calling this one the " Mexicali Blues " - as there's far too much fun going on here in this scene ... well wait, then again - maybe a scene from the ' beginning ' of the song ?  Ha !  To my eye ... this Pass is definitely a very-special one ... and maybe the Dead thought so two - as on this 4/5/93 Night - Nassau got Hammered ! with the G.L.O.R.I.A. !!!  Wow !!! ... a tune the Grateful Dead only-played less than 15-times - Ever !  I was lucky enough to see two ( 2 ) of these in my " Dead Touring Career " - and believe me ... both ! times - I was Dancin' !!!  And too ...
as the photos show - this one is Definitely ! one for the Collector of the Rare & Unique ... of either Grateful Dead Backstage Passes - Credentials - etc. - or, even just Grateful Dead Art !  Because this is indeed one of the 1990's GDP surplus Passes ( Blank / " No Date " Pass ) without any Venue - City / State - Date - etc. ... and it was actually Date ( 4-5-93 ) & Show ( NC ) marked ! by the Grateful Dead Productions Staff !!  These Passes were sparingly used at the discretion of GDP whenever needed ... if extras were needed - if pre-printed ' dated ' Passes ran out - or, if someone lost their  Pass ( oh no !!! ) - so, when emergency called - no matter what it was ... you could always count on this surplus of No-Date Passes to get the job done !  But, in this case - and to my own personal knowledge ... this Pass version ( GDP ' marked ' ) was indeed the ' Only ! ' Pass even used for this 4/5/93 Nassau Show !!!  Most likely because this Nassau run was originally-scheduled for just 4/1/1993 & 4/2/1993 - but, the Dead's Touring Popularity in 1993 ( and, especially in New York ! ) was so-overwhelming ... that the Band actually went ahead & added 3-more-Shows ! >>> on 3/31/1993 - 4/4/1993 - 4/5/1993 !!!  So, these Shows were probably added ' after ' GDP pre-printed the Backstage Passes !  So, point being ... while " Printed " Show Dates were issued for the 4/1/93 & 4/2/93 Shows ... the 3/31/93 - 4/4/93 - 4/5/93 Passes were all issued with Blank / No-Date Passes - which were All ! GDP marked with Show Dates ! ... in black sharpie marker !  Talk about labor-intensive, but essential ! - making Deadheads Real-Happy ! ... " Backstage " !!  So yeah ... check out the Setlist on This-Show ! too ... Music Never Stopped ! > Deal !! - I Fought the Law ( Clash style !! ) - Miracle ! ... and last, but most-definitely not least ..... G.L.O.R.I.A. !!!  A Huge ! ending to a Massive ! 5-Show Grateful Dead '93 Spring Tour run ( 3/31/1993 through 4/5/1993 ) - at Nassau !!! ... Enjoy !!!!!
